Game Overview

Assetto Corsa Competizione immerses players into the GT3 and GT4 racing world through the use of laser-scanned race tracks, physics that are certified by FIA, and weather changes that are tracked in real-time. The fundamental gameplay is focused on “tire management” different tire types (dry, wet, intermediate) behave differently according to their temperature, the condition of the track, and the driver’s actions; for example, overheating your varnished tires during a hot lap might cause them to get grains, which lowers the amount of grip you have, whereas taking them out for a warming lap is likely to result in them being underheated, which causes a type of front wheel steering lock termed in racing circles as cold-pressure understeer. The “electronic aids” system (TC, ABS, ECU maps) is not only fully customizable on a per-corner basis, but the actual driving data (telemetry) is also represented via data channels, which makes the micromanagement a rewarding part of the game.

The multigame “competitive racing” employs your driver rating, which considers your track medals, safety record, and pace score, to aggregate the players into fair starting line-ups where they are compelled to perform their pit stops for fuel and tire changing. “Night racing” is quite a novelty with the introduction of headlight glare, track reflection, and the reduction of depth perception at high speed. “Dynamic weather” changes are a part of the endurance race scenarios; one moment, a downpour happens, and the next, you have to rush indoors for a pair of wets, while the drying lines are formed as the cars pass along.
