Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 gave fans the explosive, globe-trotting wrap-up to the original Modern Warfare trilogy, sharpening the franchise’s signature cinematic flair and, at the same time, introducing a deep survival mode, highly customizable, and a multiplayer package perfectly polished for competitive gaming. The campaign puts you in a global, desperate manhunt for Vladimir Makarov, constantly switching between Delta Force, SAS, and Russian resistance fighters’ perspectives in well-known locations, from the fiery streets of New York to the cliffs of Paris and even in the deserts of Somalia. Gameplay features such as “Strike Packages” did away with the traditional killstreaks; instead, each player would choose from 3 separate reward streams, Assault, Support, and Specialist, which allowed them to play in the style they preferred, i.e., going for kills aggressively, offering team utility, or collecting personal perks for god-like performance.

The “Survival Mode” was a remarkable addition, whereby one player or two players could challenge themselves by fighting against endless waves of enemies that become tougher and tougher on multiplayer maps. The presence of an in-match economy where the players could buy weapons, equipment, and killstreaks made this co-op game more tense and strategic. Multiplayer, as such, was fine-tuned to the edge of competitive gameplay by the introduction of new game modes like Kill Confirmed, where the collection of dog tags added a tactical element to engagements, and a weapon proficiency system that was quite comprehensive and allowed thorough customization through attachments and handling characteristics.
