My Winter Car offers a cold and authentic Finnish survival experience through a Realistic 1970s Automotive Restoration game where the player has to, in an unheated garage through one of the harshest winters on record, piece together a barely running Datsun 100A from a pile of rusty parts scattered in the snow. The game is centred around a Comprehensive Mechanical Simulation of the car, where one has to be familiar with concepts such as engine timing, carburettor tuning, and electrical wiring, and if the parts do not fit properly, the consequences are that the engine will break down. You will be forced to walk a long distance in the freezing weather to get help.
A highly evolved Dynamic Need System makes the character's needs, such as hunger, bladder, fatigue, and alcohol, level over time. The latter is a godsend at times, but also a very risky way to keep warm and get the courage to face the cold and lonely wilderness of Finland.

One can survive the harsh winters beyond the garage only by driving Precise Winter Driving Physics on very narrow, icy, and snowy roads. If one loses control of the car, it is almost certain that either a costly tow or, worse, a fatal accident will happen. Besides, deep into survival mode, the player has to carry out Part-Time Jobs such as delivering newspapers, helping neighbours, or chopping firewood to get enough marks for petrol and sausage.
Due to the aggravating Finnish NPC Interactions and Unpredictable Events like police checks of illegal modifications, storming the house, and moose attacks, My Winter Car captures a masochistic level of detail in the rejection or approval scenes, where the portrayal of emotions is taken to a new level; therefore, the player has to be ready to hear some very harsh words from the NPCs.
