Game Overview

In Forza Horizon 4, players visit a shared, living, open-world Britain where they can immerse themselves in a real-time-changing environment driven by dynamic seasons, a player-driven economy, and deep progression systems, together forming the most ambitious playground in the series. The main activity is “seasonal rotation”, every real-world week shifts the entire map between spring, summer, autumn, and winter, each season drastically changing terrain physics: autumn floods make hydroplaning possible, lakes are frozen in winter for high-speed drift circuits, drag tires get bogged down by spring mud, and turbo efficiency goes down with summer heat.

Gain “Horizon Life” to tier up via “influence,” which is achieved by engaging in a variety of racing disciplines (road, dirt, cross-country, drag, drift, playground games, and showcase events). These are all ranked separately and come with their own exclusive reward cars. “Shared world” is a clever feature that lets up to 72 players play simultaneously in one instance and supports competitive or collaborative activities, like sudden races or Forzathon Live events (e.g., smashing 100 snowmen, gaining 5 million drift points together), or just cruising in convoys.

The “property system” enables you to buy and modify player houses scattered on the map, each of which not only gives you unique perks (like fast traveling anywhere, earning double Forzathon points, and free car deliveries) but also works as your spawn point. A battle royale mode, “Eliminator,” removes cars and upgrades; starting with a Mini Cooper, you have to confront other players in one-on-one races, winning their car level until finally facing the showdown in a shrinking map.

“Route Creator” allows you to create custom races by using any road, changing time-of-day, season, car restrictions, and prop placement (barriers, ramps, stunt rings). Besides, the addition of the Forzathon shop, fluctuations in auction house prices, and “Backstage Pass” voting, where players decide which rare cars will be returning to the festival, each seasonal change keeps competitive racing balanced with the simple joy of watching autumn leaves drift over your hood.
