Game Overview
In Forza Horizon 3, players are festival directors tasked with growing the Horizon Festival of Australia in an open world where weather changes, drone exploration, and car customization converge in the most open sandbox of the series. The main gameplay target is “fan-based growth”: winning races, doing stunt jumps, finding nice places, and upgrading festival locations get you followers, and you also unlock new events, showcase remixes, and bucket list challenges. However, owning the festival is a departure from past games; every billboard you break, every barn-find you repair, and every exhibition you win adds a tick to the “festival expansion meter,” changing your central hub from a small airstrip to a giant mega-venue.
The “blueprint” system allows for unheralded creative freedom: design custom championships with any combination of race routes, car classes, weather conditions, and times of day, then upload them online for other players to rate and replay. You will be able to surf at Surfers Paradise, walk through the rainforests of Yarra Valley, cross the Outback, and drive along the Great Ocean Road. Localized storms can occur when dynamic weather races through one valley, while the beach next to it stays sunny.
The drone mode allows you to lead the way without worrying about your car unveiling hidden shortcuts or stunt jump approaches. The multiplayer “co-op campaign” enables up to four players to progress together, sharing credit for race wins and barn-find discoveries. “Bucket list blueprint” changes the series’ challenge missions, enabling players to create their own events (speed traps, drift zones, time trials) and assign them to certain car-and-weather combinations.
By “Horizon Edition” cars providing unique advantages (double drift points, instant skill song multipliers), every beachside burnout is a balance of creative expression and the excitement of constructing Australia’s greatest automotive festival.
