Game Overview

FIFA 16 offered a new and more technically demanding way of playing football, characterized primarily by passing and holding the ball. Players will face different challenges, like defensive battles in the midfield, the discipline of the backline, and the integration of female players. An enhanced balance between different aspects of the simulation and a more authentic game experience. The central gameplay element is "confidence in defense," where the "interception intelligence" enables defenders to track passes even more effectively. The "aggressive tackling" is made simpler by having to press just one button for the entire move. "No-touch dribbling" allows you to feint with the ball close to the player's feet and keep control of the ball without touching or kicking it. This is a way of getting out of a tight situation when you are well marked. "Set pieces" come back as part of a system where you create your own free kicks and penalties. The new feature "dummy runs" has been added to enhance your team's tactics.

"Passing" now allows for a wider array of techniques; the "driven pass" is a great option to exploit gaps in the opposition with a low, fast pass. The major addition to "career mode" is "player development", giving you opportunities to train your players and see their ratings improve. Female national teams are the subject of the first major step in their recognition by FIFA, and their inclusion here marks a milestone with their models and movements that are very close to the actual players. In "Pro Clubs," the players are rated via "match ratings," which are based on their performance and scoring according to their positions. "Ultimate Team" features "fut draft," a kind of auction system where the prices of different players depend upon their popularity. New features in the game include "chem styles" and a " transfer market" to facilitate the exchange of players. The multiplayer aspect is a big hit, and there are options such as "online seasons", which are leagues played against the community.

"Skill games" also have a new type of challenge called "seasonal," which is an extra fun part of the game. "Matchday" is one of the features that is most similar to real life, as it changes the squads and the form according to how the players were doing in reality before the match. Goalkeepers' AI is a big factor, and the game's developers have put a great deal of work into the way goalkeepers make their decisions and the animations for saving the balls. "Sliding Tackles" are not the default move any longer, and instead of the whole tackle, you can choose whether to do the body tackle or use the legs to block crosses.

Through "Tactical defending", a more active style of defending is made possible through controlled jockeying, close marking, and pressuring the opponent. The "assistant" is a feature that can be toggled off and on and gives a player hints in real-time. "Tracer" can be considered one of the best parts of this game, as it gives players a chance to interact and learn from different teams through different ways of playing. There are also "Stadium" reactions and chants depending upon the team and match, which is one of the many features of "Authentic atmosphere."
